THE STORY

The transformations of the Fagradalsfjall eruption of 2021 were truly breathtaking. I've finally gone back to some moments that I found particularly inspiring that I wanted to explore in paint and this is one of them! Here we have this beautiful alchemy of nature where, due to lava cooling more rapidly, volcanic glass formed which turned the surface a silvery white colour. Isn't that incredible?! I was fascinated by this skin of silver covering the crater, and these veins of lava which break through and crawl over the surface. Nature can be so mysterious, she's full of surprises and comes up with some truly remarkable visuals that you wouldn't expect.
