THE STORY
I spent some time in the lovely area Fljótshlíð. Here there is a beautiful waterfall called Gluggafoss, which means ‘window falls’. It is named so because the river has created several holes and tunnels in the soft bedrock - so there are sections where you actually look through these cut outs or ‘windows’ in the rock to see the falling water! Previously when I visited this waterfall it’s been overcast - classic Iceland - but this time I caught it when the sunlight was hitting the top, illuminating these windows and the colourful moss on the surrounding rock face.
