THE STORY
Kleifarvatn is a lake situated in the area of Krýsuvík. It is the largest lake on the Reykjanes Peninsula and one of the deepest lakes in Iceland at about 97m deep. Surrounded by volcanic ridges the lake forms a great part of the stunning scenery. I painted this area in the late summer when it is rich in local colour - the greens and bright yellows of the grass and moss, reds from the blooming shrubs along with the deep black of the sand.
