THE STORY
During my exploration of the beautiful area of Krýsuvík on the Reykjanes Peninsula I came across this lovely old church - Krýsuvíkurkirkja. A typical Icelandic country church from the 19th century, erected in 1857. (Unfortunately it burnt down in 2010 but was rebuilt in its original form in 2020.) I was drawn to capture this simple wooden, solitary church nestled in the landscape, overlooking the expanse of fields below. It was an evocative reminder of times past, communities that generations before had lived and worked the land.
